Blogging community

Blogging community is a platform for people to connect to blogs or for bloggers to stay connected by linking each other, for example blogged.my is one of the blogging communities in Malaysia. However, some said it is not necessarily occur in cyberspace, it can be happened offline as well. These blogging communities regularly hang out at their favourite spots to socialise, make friends and exchange ideas. (Anthony, 2009)

Now back to the cyberspace. There are many ways to build a sense of community in a blog. One of the important ways is to reply reader's comment. Most blogging software requires visitor to leave down their email address when they post a comment. For example, WordPress allows you to reply comment right on the site. Besides, WordPress has a Comment Email Responder, the function is your reply will be sent to the person who commented on your post as well as showing it on your site. (Mueller, 2009)

There are 3 types of blogging communities - one-blog-centric, topic-centric, and boundaried. One-blog-centric is a blog owned by one owner or an organisation. It is the first form of a blog based community to emerge readers begin returning to the blogger's sites. Topic-centric is a form of community arises between blog linked by a certain topic such as food bloggers, mummy bloggers and travel bloggers. Boundaried is collections of blogs and blog readers hosted on a single platform. (White, n.d.)
Friendster is considered as a boundaried community. It first started as a social network site for friends to stay connect to each other, later on they added blogs for their member to post things up.
